Free genetic counseling and testing

Free genetic counseling and testing

The Bluefield Project to Cure FTD has partnered with Probably Genetic to improve access to genetic counseling and testing for FTD. Individuals over the age of 18 may be eligible* if they have a clinical diagnosis of FTD and/or a biological family member with a disease-causing variant in the progranulin (GRN) gene.

Probably Genetic will ask you some basic questions about yourself, your symptoms, and any past testing to see if you qualify for their program. You’ll also need to give the name of a healthcare provider, but no private health information or results will be shared with that person. If you qualify for the program, a healthcare provider from EverlyHealth will order your test after you complete your pre-test genetic counseling session.

*Probably Genetic is singularly responsible for determining final eligibility for the program based on patient-provided information.

This program is financially supported by the Bluefield Project to Cure FTD. While Bluefield/Progranulin Information Navigator will receive aggregate data, including self-reported symptoms and genetic changes related to FTD, it will not receive any identifiable health or genetic information.  Your name and email address will be added to Bluefield's mailing list which provides updates about new research studies and news related to FTD.
